ARECIBO

As part of the NYPL Tompkins Square Library’s Fourth Annual East Village Arts Festival, we present ARECIBO.

News of the collapse of the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico has drawn the attention of scientific and global community. With the loss of this monumental facility, we’re reminded of the importance of discovery and the pursuit of knowledge. We celebrate the work of astronomers and scientists who have furthered our understanding of the space beyond.

We invite you to observe the vibrancy of the night sky through light. The heavens have and will continue to inspire humankind to create and search.

The installation is live from 5PM to 7AM each evening from December 4-12, 2020.
